The White Coat Ceremony for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Class of 2026 is scheduled for Friday, August 19 at 10 a.m. in the Moss Arts Center's Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre. View the ceremony program (PDF 612 KB).

This ceremony will be viewable via livestream below, and a recording of the livestream will be available for viewing after the event. 

We are excited to celebrate this joyous milestone with members of the Class of 2026 and family members and guests. 

Arrival and check-in

The ceremony will be held at the Moss Arts Center, located at 190 Alumni Mall. Check-in for you and your chosen coat presenter will take place in the front lobby of Moss Arts Center, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending promptly at 9:30 a.m. Your other guests may enter the theater beginning at 9:30 a.m. If you have not checked in by 9:30 a.m., your name will be removed from the script and you will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony, which starts promptly at 10 a.m.

Parking

All students and visitors will need to display a parking permit, utilize the ParkMobile app, pay the daily charge for a pass, or pay for parking using an hourly meter when parking on Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus, Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. On-campus parking is available on a first-come basis. Please allow ample time to navigate campus and locate a parking spot. Learn more

  • Nearby parking options on campus include the Architecture Annex and Squires parking lots and on-street parking on Alumni Mall, around the Drillfield, and on other campus streets. Off campus parking options include Church Street and Progress Street parking lots, and limited on-street parking.
  • Visitors without mobility limitations are encourged to park in the Perry Street Garage, which can be accessed using the Prices Fork Road entrance. Due to ongoing campus construction, access to and from this garage via West Campus Drive is closed.
  • There is limited accessible parking located just outside the Moss Arts Center building on both Turner Street and Alumni Mall. Additional accessible parking is available in the North End Center Parking Garage and other campus lots, and guests can be dropped off and picked up directly at the center’s entrance, as well.
  • Important notice: Students and visitors may experience significant delays upon arrival and departure when parking at the North End Center Garage. Student parking is available on Level 7 and students are required to pay the daily charge, typically ranging from $2 to $6, even with a valid parking permit. Payment options are Visa or MasterCard credit and debit cards only (no Discover or American Express).

Photography

A professional photographer will take pictures of each student and a group photo of the class. These photos will be made available online

After the ceremony

Directly following the White Coat Ceremony, students will gather at Moss Arts Center for a group photo. Directions will be given at the conclusion of the ceremony. After the group photo, other photo opportunities with family members and guests will be available in the lobby and on the plaza in front of the Moss Arts Center

Format

The ceremony will last approximately 60 minutes. The ceremony program will be made available on this website.

Photography

A professional photographer will take pictures of each student and a group photo of the class. These photos will be made available online. Guests are welcome to take photos and/or videos during the ceremony at appropriate times and locations.

After the ceremony

All guests are asked to remain at their seats until the ceremony has ended. Photo opportunities will be available in the lobby and on the plaza in front of the Moss Arts Center.

DVM Class of 2026 White Coat Reception

A reception will be held on Thursday, August 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the College Grove for members of the DVM Class of 2026 and invited guests.
