Bio

Hi, my name is Will Cameron! I'm a first year DVM student and small animal tracker from Silver Spring, MD. By the time I finally got accepted into vet school I wasn't sure if a DVM was something I still wanted. I was intimidated by leaving my stable pay and routine for a path so full of question marks. What would I tell my coworkers? Was I smart enough to excel? Where actually is Blacksburg?

What finally convinced me to follow my dream was my first visit to VMCVM for admitted students day. I was struck by the atmosphere of familiarity, and how everyone I met seemed happy to be where they were. The college didn't seem pretentious or intimidating, it was a group of people just like me. People that had earned their chance to do something incredible with their lives. At the end of the day, I was convinced that the college was somewhere that I would be happy.

Almost a full year after my first visit to the college, I couldn't be more satisfied with my choice. I enjoy our integrated curriculum that allows me to learn about the anatomy and physiology of a system in the same day. I consider myself lucky to attend a school that fosters an environment of collaboration and not competition - there is so much joy in celebrating all the intelligent people around me instead of competing with them. I can't imagine doing anything else and I'm glad that I don't have to anymore.

If you have any questions about the program or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact me. Go Hokies!
