Bio

My name is Quinn Turk! I am a first-year student at VMCVM and am planning to track Small Animal. I am from Raleigh, North Carolina, and went to NC State University for undergrad and graduate school. I was definitely nervous being an out-of-state student, but the community at VMCVM was very welcoming and I felt at home right away. Blacksburg has been so much fun to explore and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. I chose VMCVM because I love the integrated class setup. Learning a topic by discussing it from multiple angles helps me understand the concepts in a deeper way than traditional class schedules. I also appreciate that we get the opportunity to learn and perform surgery sooner than most other programs. I’m excited to do my spay labs next year and jump into my clinical rotations the summer after. My work/life balance has also been great during my first year. I’ve had the opportunity to join multiple clubs, even becoming treasurer for the Companion Animal Club. I’ve also had the opportunity to be an ambassador for the veterinary company where I worked before moving to Blacksburg. In my free time, I love going to the movies, playing video games with friends, and cheering on my North Carolina sports teams (although it’s tough to be a Panthers fan these days). I’m excited to share my experiences at VMCVM with everybody, so please email me at quinnturk@vt.edu if you have any questions!
