Logan Blevins
- Track: Small Animal
Bio
Hello, my name is Logan Blevins, and I am a first year student here at VMCVM. I am from Chesapeake, Virginia and am planning on being a small animal tracker. My interest in animals started in my elementary school years where I participated in summer camps at the zoo multiple times. I was able to narrow down my interest to a passion for veterinary medicine later in high school and continuing into undergraduate. While I did have a couple experiences shadowing general practice veterinarians, most of my background leading to applying to veterinary school was in wildlife medicine and rehabilitation. I started to tour veterinary schools and was stunned by the environment and curriculum that VMCVM had to offer. Along with the school being in state, these attributes led me to only apply to VMCVM as I knew that it was the only school I wanted to attend. Furthermore, the students here foster a welcoming atmosphere and the faculty all do whatever they can to see every student succeed.
Outside of being a student, I am also a Coordinator for the student-run Wildlife Ward at the teaching-hospital that intakes and treats injured wildlife from the surrounding areas. In my free time I tend to play pickleball as there is a great pickleball community presence in Blacksburg and surrounding towns. Additionally, I enjoy hiking and camping, and I have been singing in choirs for the past 12 years.
