Bio

Hello! My name is Shannon Lamastra and I am a currently veterinary student here at VMCVM. I am from Bel Air, Maryland, and am an alumni of the University of Maryland, College Park. I am tracking Small Animal Medicine here at VMCVM, with a plan to pursue small animal emergency medicine with a focus in pocket pets after I graduate. I love being a student here for many reasons. The main reason is the sense of community I feel here, as we are a tight knit group and everyone is super supportive of each other. It is really great to be surrounded by so many intelligent, kind individuals who are going to be my future colleagues! Another reason I love being a student here is the system-based curriculum. Due to the overlap we get in our curriculum, I feel like I absorb the information so much faster! Our professors are absolutely incredible and really care about making sure we get the best education we can while we are here, while also teaching us clinical application as we go along. I love how many clubs are available here, such as the Companion Animal Club and the Radiology Club (two that I am currently in and really enjoy!). Outside of school, I really enjoy hiking in the area, running on local trails, and horseback riding! Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have at shannonla923@vt.edu.
