Bio

Hello!

My name is Kate Vietmeyer, and I am a small animal tracker from Oakton, VA. Part of the reason why I chose to attend VMCVM actually occurred prior to getting my acceptance when I went on a tour of the school. I loved getting to learn more about the school and student life, but it wasn’t the curriculum or the extremely cool clinical skills lab that struck me the most. It was the fact that around EVERY corner, a faculty member or another student addressed my tour guide by name and said hello. I left the tour with the strong impression that the school truly was a community, and one that I wanted to be a part of. Looking back, I can now say that my initial assessment of the school was more than accurate. The faculty here are incredible. They are passionate about teaching, are constantly checking in with us to see how we are doing, and genuinely care about our success. Whether it's by setting up mock anatomy exams the weekend before a test or by opening their office doors as a place to destress, the faculty constantly go above and beyond to help students. The student body is also incredibly tight knit. We are all in this together, and I know I can turn to any one of my classmates to ask for help. To me, the most vital thing to success in veterinary school is the community, and I have certainly found an amazing one at VMCVM. Throw this in with the fact that as soon as second year I will start performing my first ever surgery, and I will enter my first round of clinics shortly thereafter, accepting my spot at VMCVM was a no-brainer! I am so proud to be attending my school, and I would love to share more about it. Please feel free to reach out with any questions at all, and I would love to chat with you.
