Emory Faison
- Track: Public/Corporate
Bio
My name is Emory Faison, and I am a first-year student at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine! I am originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, but I have called Blacksburg home for nearly five years. I am planning to track Public Corporate, as I am incredibly passionate about wildlife conservation, and aspire to work as a bush veterinarian in the Republic of South Africa. I have been fortunate enough to work alongside rhino conservation teams in South Africa, and after obtaining my DVM I hope I will be able to continue that vital work. It was my passion for conservation that drew me to Virginia Tech in the first place. I fell in love with the university and the town of Blacksburg the first time I toured as a prospective undergraduate student. The community has such a warm and welcoming feel, and it is largely because of that that I chose to stay and attend VMCVM. Virginia-Maryland is welcoming and close-knit, and I am immensely grateful each day for the support system I have here. In addition to that, I love the integrated curriculum system, and the opportunities it provides to apply what we have learned to hands-on clinical situations. Our professors are dedicated to our learning and success, both in and out of the classroom. As a student planning to track Public Corporate, I am also looking forward to my clinical year, as that track offers a great deal of flexibility that will allow me to truly tailor my clinical experience to my interests. Though I am relatively new to VMCVM as a first-year student, I can't imagine a program that would be a better fit for me.
