Bio

Hey! My name is Abby Wimmer and I am from Westminster, Maryland. I am a first year student here at VMCVM and am planning on tracking small animal. My path to veterinary school started at a very young age as my mother is a veterinarian, so I had a lot of exposure to the field growing up. My mom graduated from VMCVM in 2000, which definitely influenced my decision to attend VMCVM (in addition to the in-state tuition!) I knew from a very young age that becoming a veterinarian was what I wanted to do with my life. While in high school, I begin taking courses at my local community college to work on knocking out some of my prerequisites. I ended up graduating high school with 32 college credits, which allowed me to apply to veterinary school at a younger age. I love the community here at VMCVM - everybody is so including and all of the faculty/staff are here to see us succeed. There are so many individuals willing to go above and beyond for us here at VMCVM.

When I am not in class or studying, I enjoy powerlifting! Additionally, I am on Virginia Tech's club gymnastics team, which has been a great way to take a break from schooling and do something that I enjoy. I love spending time outside, and can often be found skiing, kayaking, or hiking depending on the season. I have 3 fur children here with me at school - Ralphie (fluffy mutt mix), Randy (shih-tzu dachshund mix), and Darla Jane (dilute tortishell DSH).
