Emma Spata
- Track: Small Animal
Bio
Hello! My name is Emma Spata and I am in the class of 2027. I am from Yorktown, VA, which is near the coast about 4 hours from Blacksburg. I went to James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA for my undergrad and graduated in May of 2023 with a degree in Biology. On breaks, I return to Yorktown and spend time with my family, our dog Winnie, and our cat Hunny. In addition, I work at a private general practice in Yorktown as a veterinary assistant. I plan on pursuing the small animal track, and am currently interested in general practice, shelter medicine, and surgery. As well as being a student ambassador, I am the secretary for Companion Animal Club and on the medical team for the Animal Welfare Foster Program. In addition to these clubs, I am a student employee in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s ICU. As a student at VMCVM, I deeply appreciate the professors and their dedication to our success. From after-hour study sessions to mock lab exams, the professors truly care about each and every student! When I’m not attending classes or studying, I enjoy reading fiction books and spending time with my tabby cat, Willow. Do not hesitate to contact me at spataej@vt.edu if you have any questions or would simply like to pick my brain about veterinary school!
