Bio

My name is Julia Salinas and I am from Stafford County, Virginia. I attended Kansas State University for undergrad where I received my bachelors in Animal Science & Industry. My animal experience prior to veterinary school was almost exclusively small animal private practice, however, I am tracking in Mixed Animal medicine. VMCVM is the perfect school for me because I loved the way the curriculum is designed in a more systems-based approach. Rather than taking multiple classes simultaneously, we are in one main class that focuses on a body region. To me, this makes learning more stress-free and stimulating as we are learning diseases and their treatments at the same time. I love how VMCVM is able to provide first years hands-on experience with animals within our first few weeks of starting class!  As a student that had minimal livestock experience, this gave me the opportunity to build confidence and even expand my comfort zone to track mixed animals. Additionally, the professors here do an amazing job in making students feel comfortable with the animals as well as with the material.
