Shawn Re
- Track: Small Animal
Bio
My name is Shawn Re and I am from Rockaway, New Jersey. I plan on tracking small animal with the intention of going onto an internship and residency after graduation. I chose Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine for a few different reasons. For one, the campus here at Virginia Tech is wonderful with lots of open space and plenty of places in the area to grab a bite to eat or go for a hike. I love to get outside and get some fresh air, especially on sunny days! More importantly though, I came here for the program structure. Unlike other veterinary programs, VMCVM follows a system-based approach. This means for the first two years we focus on one set of body systems at a time within the class, as opposed to a variety of classes all at once. This allows us to focus on all the anatomy, diseases and treatment of those systems which culminates in students performing their first spay at the end of their second year. Finally, I also chose to come here for the welcoming and helpful faculty. Many of the professors enjoy teaching the next generation of veterinarians and are always willing to lend a helping hand or answer any questions you might have. I enjoy coming to school every day to not only keep learning about new aspects of veterinary medicine, but also to spend time with all my classmates. VMCVM is a wonderful school with always expanding opportunities to help you become a better veterinarian.
