Bio

Hi! My name is Meg Butterworth and I'm from Falls Church, VA. I went to Virginia Tech for undergrad where I majored in Animal and Poultry Sciences, with a double emphasis in Companion/Lab Animals and Poultry. As a first year student at VMCVM, I plan to track Small Animal and have an interest in pocket pets as well. This fall, I joined the Adoptions Team for the Animal Welfare Foster Program (AWFP), a rescue run entirely by our vet students. I fostered dogs and cats throughout high school and college, so I knew I wanted to continue working with a rescue while in vet school and it has already proven to be a joyful and fulfilling experience to place pets in their forever homes! VMCVM offers a plethora of other clubs to join as well as numerous leadership opportunities that have helped me build relationships with other students, professors, and community members. VMCVM also provides a unique curriculum with the ability to get hands-on experience with animals from Day 1. It is extremely helpful to apply lecture material in "real-life" and it reminds me what I'm doing this for- the animals!

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about life in Blacksburg, what it's like to be a vet student, or want to schedule a tour of the school!
